FAQs:
What are the benefits of the PADI eLearning online courses?
You can complete knowledge development for many popular courses at your own pace and it doesn’t require you to be in a classroom – just near a computer! Just complete the fun and interactive course online online, and then call us at (847) 827-3100 to set up the confined water (pool) dives in our tropical heated indoor training facility and/or open water dives to complete your certification! It’s that simple.
What is an example of the progression of PADI courses?
Click here to see the official PADI course progression chart. Typically, students start with an introductory course such as Discover Scuba Experience to try scuba for the first time. (Discover Scuba isn’t an online class; you can just come into Berry Dive Center and try breathing underwater – and it can be done in less than an hour, in our heated pool!) Other students start immediately with their Open Water certification, which allows them to dive independently in open water such as the ocean. OW is one of the many PADI eLearning classes that is offered online – and it doesn’t require any previous scuba experience. After earning their OW certification, divers often choose to get their Advanced Open Water certification (offered online) or they start trying different Specialties, such as Underwater Photography or Enriched Air/ Nitrox – both courses that can be taken online and completed at Berry Dive Center!
How do “online” scuba courses work?
A traditional introductory scuba class like our Open Water Diver Course consists of combined classroom & pool sessions in our facility. Students read their Open Water Diver manual at home prior to the class, and we spend some time in the classroom answering questions and reviewing information from the book. Then, we go to the pool and teach the skills in the water. In an online scuba course like the PADI eLearning system, students complete the classroom portion of the class online from the comfort of their home, and just come in to Berry Dive Center for their pool sessions. If you’re taking an online course and have questions for an instructor, just call us – or we can answer your questions prior to your pool dives.
